How to Add an Arabic Keyboard on iPhone and iPad
iPhone and iPad include downloadable keyboard layouts in Settings. Once Arabic is added, the Globe or Emoji key on the on-screen keyboard lets you switch between languages while composing a message or document.
Add Arabic in Settings
Open Settings, go to General, then Keyboard, then Keyboards. Choose Add New Keyboard and select Arabic. The list can offer regional or layout choices; select the one you intend to use and return to your text field.
You can add more than one keyboard and remove one later from the same Keyboards screen. Review the selected layout if the key arrangement is different from what you expect.
Switch languages while typing
Open a text field so the on-screen keyboard appears. Tap the Globe or Emoji key to cycle through installed keyboards; on some configurations, touch and hold it to choose a language from a list. The selected language may also be shown on the key or keyboard.
The Globe key can cycle through every installed keyboard, so removing layouts you never use can make switching faster. Dictation, predictive text, and autocorrect behavior may differ by language and app.
Use a browser keyboard for a one-off phrase
If you are using a shared iPad, do not want to add a keyboard, or only need to enter a short Arabic phrase, open harf in the browser. Tap the on-screen Arabic keys, copy the finished phrase, then paste it into your message or form.
For everyday writing, the built-in iOS keyboard integrates more naturally with apps. For a quick task without changing device settings, the browser keyboard is a convenient alternative.
Put what you learned into practice.
Open the harf keyboard and try a short phrase. Click the letters or use your physical keyboard.
